Lakes Magnet School received a grant from the Idaho Commission on the Arts to have artist, Lizette Fife, teach the craft of rug hooking.  Lizette was at Lakes for a full week teaching students and staff the history of wool gathering, spinning the wool into yarn, showing the techniques of dying the yarn and the technique of creating rugs as an art form. Mrs. Juhlin’s 6th grade class, Mrs. Eggleston, Mrs. Doerr‘s Magnet Class, Mrs. Hardy’s 8^th grade class, and the Lakes staff were able to create their small rugs that are now on display in the breezeway.  It was a fun and creative week and we appreciate Lizette’s Fife talent and energy to share her knowledge and expertise to our school. Mrs. Eggleston will continue to teach rug hooking to all the 6^th grade exploratory classes.
